Battle.net desktop client works as an agent for the Blizzard games apart from Activision that allows Windows users to install and play games on the PC. However, sometimes the Battle.net application is crashing on Windows 11 unexpectedly. Affected users are reporting about it frequently and Blizzard Entertainment is aware of this issue luckily. Though they’re working on it, players are frustrating a lot and searching for workarounds too.

1. Try Launching the game manually

If in case, you’re facing the issue while launching or loading any specific game on the Battle.net client then make sure to login WOW or any other Blizzard game manually on the PC without using the Battle.net desktop app. To do so:

  • Head over to the installed game directory on your PC and directly run the game executable application. [For example, C:\drive > Program Files > WoW folder > Retail folder > Wow.exe – login. If the authenticator asks, click on authenticate on phone. If not, then login directly and enjoy]

2. Update Device Drivers

Make sure to update device drivers on the Windows 11 PC to check if any outdated or corrupted driver is causing issues with the Battle.net client or not. You should check updates for the display driver, networking driver, motherboard chipset driver, etc.

  • Press Windows + X keys to open the Quick Start Menu.
  • Click on Device Manager > Double-click on Display adapters.
  • Right-click on the graphics card > Select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for drivers.
  • If there is an update available, it’ll automatically download and install the update.
  • Once done, make sure to reboot your computer to apply changes.

Do the same steps for Network adapters to check updates for the networking driver on your PC. Whereas if you’re interested in updating the motherboard chipset driver then make sure to visit the official motherboard manufacturer website and search for the latest version of the driver for your specific motherboard model.

3. Temporarily Disable any Security Programs

You should try temporarily disabling any security programs on your Windows computer such as the Windows Defender Firewall, Virus & threat protection, or any other third-party antivirus software. It should gonna help your Battle.net client to launch and connect to the server properly in most cases.

  • Click on the Start menu > Search for virus & threat protection.
  • Click on it from the search result and turn off the real-time protection manually.
  • Next, search for defender firewall from the Start menu > Open it and turn off manually.

If you’re using any other third-party security software then turn it off too and try launching the Battle.net client.

4. Run Battle.net as administrator

If you’re not running the Battle.net client on your computer as administrator then make sure to follow the steps below:

  • Right-click on the Battle.net exe shortcut file on your PC.
  • Now, select Properties > Click on the Compatibility tab.
  • Make sure to click on the Run this program as an administrator checkbox to checkmark it.
  • Click on Apply and select OK to save changes.

5. Reinstall Battle.net

Sometimes it’s necessary to fully uninstall and reinstall the Battle.net desktop app on the Windows 11 PC. Follow the steps below to reinstall the client.

Note: Uninstalling the Battle.net desktop app does not uninstall your game clients.

  • Open Control Panel > Click on Uninstall a program.
  • Right-click on Battle.net (Blizzard Battle.net) > Select Uninstall.
  • This will begin the uninstallation process. Once done, reboot the PC to apply changes.
  • Finally, visit this link and download the Battle.net desktop app on your PC then install it.

6. Close all other running applications

Sometimes closing the unnecessary background tasks on the Windows system can fix multiple issues with the program launching or compatibility.

  • Press the Windows + X keys to open the Quick Link Menu > Click on Task Manager.
  • Go to the Processes tab > Click on the unnecessary task.
  • Select End Task to close it.
  • You can do this individually for all the tasks that you don’t want to run in the background.

7. Run a security scan

Make sure to run a security scan on your Windows PC to check if the problem has been occurring at the system level or not. You should open the antivirus software on your computer and then run a full scan for all drives and files to check for the potential issue.

8. Disable VPN and Proxy Server

Try disabling the VPN and Proxy server on your Windows computer to fix the Battle.net client running issue. To disable it:

  • Press Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  • Type inetcpl.cpl into the dialog box and click on OK.
  • Click on the Connections tab > Select Never dial a connection (if available).
  • Click on LAN settings > Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN.
  • If this setting is already unchecked, try to turn on Automatically detect settings.
  • Click on OK to apply changes.

If you’re using any VPN service then make sure to turn it off temporarily to check whether the problem has been fixed or not.

9. Contact Technical Support Forum

If none of the methods worked for you then try contacting to Technical Support Forum for further assistance on it. By reporting about the particular issue to the forum or the support team, you’ll ensure that the developers will focus on it.
