1. Verify and Repair Game Files

First of all, you should try verifying and repairing the installed GTA V game files properly to ensure there is no issue at all. Mostly corrupted or missing game files can occur several issues with the game launching whatsoever. Make sure not to run the verification process while performing other system-intensive processes because it may cause issues with the repairing process. Note: If in case, you’ve installed the Rockstar Games Launcher on a different drive then navigate to the respective location and then delete the mentioned folders.

  • C:\Users[USERNAME]\Documents\Rockstar Games\Launcher

  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\Social Club

  • C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Social Club

  • You can head over to the Rockstar Social Club website link and Reinstall the Rockstar Games Launcher.

  • Finally, Reinstall the GTA V game, and play again to check for the Error Failed zlib call (ERR_GEN_ZLIB_2).

  • Open the Steam launcher > Go to Library.

  • Right-click on GTA V from the list of installed games from the left pane.

  • Scroll to Manage > Click on Uninstall.

  • Navigate to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V folder on your PC. [If you’ve installed the game to another drive then you can navigate there]

  • Now, make sure to Delete all folders and files located there.
